Inspirée par le polyèdre de forme énigmatique figurant dans la plus célèbre des gravures d’Albrecht Dürer, Melencolia I, datée de 1514 et interprétée comme une allégorie décrivant la mélancolie dans la création de l’artiste, John Cornu met en oeuvre dans la réalisation en volume d’une interprétation du polyèdre, un processus créatif qui abolit les frontières entre présentation et représentation. Produire à partir de l’existant est un principe de travail de l’artiste.
