Avec le projet « Sextodecimo », Yann Sérandour reprend la célèbre série d’images de Bruno Munari en main. Rediffusée actuellement par l’éditeur italien Corraini sous la forme d’une affiche, il transforme cette dernière en un cahier de 32 pages après l’avoir faite plier et relier.

D’une affiche à l’autre, les pliages varient, produisant des séquences de pages et des sens de lecture différents, alternant fragments d’images et pages blanches, tension et relâchement. Sous les mains de la relieuse, puis entre celles du lecteur, les images redistribuées de Munari tournoient au rythme de l’imposition hasardeuse des pages du livre.

Réalisé dans le cadre de Reading dance, en réponse à la série d’images de Bruno Munari intitulée « Ricerca della comodità in una poltrona scomoda » (À la recherche du confort dans un fauteuil inconfortable), publiée pour la première fois dans la revue Domus en 1944 afin d’illustrer un article qu’il consacre, avec humour, à la prolifération des formes d’assises et à leur inconfort.

As the images are also distributed as a poster by the italian publisher Corraini, he uses it and transforms it into a 32 pages leaflet by having it folded and bound. From poster to poster, the folds are different, producing different sequences and meaning by alternating fragments of pictures and white pages, tension and pause. In the hands of the binder first, then in the hands of the reader, Munari’s reshuffled images are following the rhythm of their random arrangement in the book.
